It’s Nurses Month and Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation™ (HNHN) is proud to participate in the first week of this event, which focuses on self-care. HNHN is a free nurse wellness initiative that is open to all. Nurse self-care is more vital than ever now as we face the COVID-19 pandemic and its accompanying stress, isolation, and anxiety. Each day we will send you a hope-filled message with a #healthynurse wellness story and helpful tips to help improve your quality of life, nutrition, physical activity, safety, and rest. For even more wellness tips, challenges, contests, resources, and more. Join NOW to access a free 1 year Headspace PLUS subscription.

#healthynurse SPOTLIGHT
Uniqua Smith
I cannot imagine going through two different chemotherapy treatments with a body that was not somewhat healthy. My message to everyone now is to get your body in the best shape that you can in order to be strong enough to fight off any illness that may occur in your future.
HNHN REST TIPS
According to Cleveland Clinic, not getting enough sleep can lead to many health issues including depression and high blood pressure, as well as increase a person’s risk of making errors on the job. Meanwhile, getting plenty of shut-eye can help nurses feel calmer, happier, and have a better quality of life.
Here are some simple tips and strategies that will help you get a better night’s rest. For additional resources, see ANA’s 2014 position statement: Addressing Nurse Fatigue to Promote Safety and Health.
We hope you have enjoyed this week of self-care tips. Join us at Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation for more challenges, blogs, a health risk appraisal, contests, discussions and more! It’s free and open to everyone.
You are all nurse heroes and we salute you! A heartfelt thank you for all you do from the HNHN Team.
List some small changes you can make to feel more balanced when you’re off work. Tell us in our private Facebook group or join in the Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation discussion. (You must join HNHN first).
